79th Street Causeway reopens after bridge stuck in upright position

Traffic backed up for miles

MIAMI – A drawbridge that connects Miami to North Bay Village was stuck in the upright position Thursday afternoon, snarling traffic in both directions.

Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions on the 79th Street Causeway.

The bridge was eventually repaired and reopened to traffic, although delays still remained.

Alternative routes include the Julia Tuttle Causeway or the Broad Causeway.
