Motorcyclist in critical condition after crashing into SUV

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened late Sunday afternoon in the 3300 block of N. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach.

Witnesses said the driver of a blue Yamaha was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic northbound on Powerline Road when he struck the passenger-side door of a silver Chevy Equinox near Northwest 33 Street.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the motorcyclist and Equinox passenger to Broward Health North hospital.

The Equinox driver's mother arrived on scene and took him to Broward Health North to be checked out. The driver and passenger have non-life threatening injuries.

The adult male motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported as a trauma alert in critical condition.
