Romney's Gables visit expected to impact public transit schedules

MIAMI - Miami-Dade Transit is asking passengers to plan accordingly for transportation disruptions Wednesday during presidential candidate Mitt Romney's tentatively scheduled visit in Coral Gables.

According to officials, the visit will impact Metrorail and Metrobus schedules.

Metrorail will experience intermittent disruptions in service from about 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Bus routes 48 and 56 will experience service delays from about 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All routes that provide service in the Coral Gables area may experience delays as well, officials said.

For more information, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, which is part of the County's 3-1-1 Answer Center. The service is available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TTY users can call 305-499-8971.

Transit users are also encouraged to visit Miami-Dade Transit's web site for information.
