Chain-reaction crash snarls traffic on Florida's Turnpike

Dump truck also gets stuck under I-75 overpass

A dump truck was stuck under the Interstate 75 overpass in northwest Miami-Dade County.

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Traffic was a mess Tuesday morning in both directions of Florida's Turnpike near the Miami-Dade County and Broward County line.

A chain-reaction crash closed both lanes of the Turnpike near Northwest 27th Avenue in Miramar, although northbound traffic was getting by on the shoulder.

Meanwhile, the southbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike were closed for a short time Tuesday morning in northwest Miami-Dade County after a dump truck got stuck under an overpass.

All southbound lanes were closed at Red Road because of the dump truck crash miles south near Interstate 75.

Traffic eventually got moving again, but with plenty of delays.

Drivers were advised to avoid the Turnpike in the area.
