Storm affects 2 Amtrak services on Sunday for New York-Miami

MIAMI – Amtrak said it will continue operating with a modified schedule in the mid-Atlantic region Sunday due to the winter storm on the East Coast.

The Silver Meteor (New York-Miami), which is trains 97 and 98, will not operate Sunday, Amtrak officials said. The Silver Star (New York-Miami), which is trains 91 and 92, will only operate between Miami and Jacksonville on Sunday.

Amtrak officials said passengers who are holding reservations are strongly encouraged to keep a close eye on conditions and make any necessary changes in advance of their scheduled departure using Amtrak.com or its mobile apps to check their train status.

Service plans for Monday for the Northeast Corridor (Boston-New York-Washington), Keystone Service and for service south and west of Washington is expected to be announced by Amtrak Sunday. Officials said changes to schedules or announcements about other service changes will be posted on Amtrak's website.

"The top priority at Amtrak is the safety of our passengers, employees and the traveling public," Amtrak said in a statement. "Amtrak engineering, operations and mechanical crews are actively monitoring conditions to ensure safe and efficient operation of the railroad, with personnel and equipment positioned to quickly respond to potential problems and to resolve issues."
