American Airlines caps 1-way flights to San Juan at $99

Additional caps in place for US Virgin Islands

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – American Airlines has capped one-way ticket prices at $99 for flights to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

The fare rate will last through Oct. 8. 

Premium tickets have also been capped at $199. 

In addition to capping prices for San Juan, the airline has capped prices in both directions from the U.S. Virgin Islands and flights to  the United States from Saint Maarten and Turks and Caicos through Sunday. 

Travel alerts have been extended as well (click here for link). This allows travelers to alter their plans without a charge fee. 

American Airlines sent a plane to San Juan on Monday with more than 50,000 pounds of cargo, the majority of which was relief supplies. 

The plane then returned to Miami with about 300 passengers.
