Tropical Storm Bonnie moves to shore far from South Florida

Tropical Depression strengthened to Tropical Storm

MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A tropical depression strengthened to Tropical Storm Bonnie on Saturday. But this was happening away from South Florida, as the storm pushed northwestward.

For our friends in the Carolinas and Georgia, their beach plans during Memorial Day weekend were bound to change. The system was likely to bring rain, rip currents and gusty winds.  It will likely land on Sunday along the South Carolina coast, where there was a tropical storm warning.

S. FLA. WEATHER

There will be a chance for inland showers and isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon.

There will also be a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms on Sunday and a 30 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms on Monday.

No advisories for boaters.
