MIAMI – British, French and Dutch officials were dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, after the Category 5 storm killed at least 10 people and left a trail of destruction on a string of Caribbean islands known for their beauty.
Authorities feared the death toll was going to grow as they cleared the debris in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where four people died.

"An event of this magnitude is very chilling," U.S. Virgin Islands, Gov. Kenneth Mapp said.
There was also a need for water, food and gas in Anguilla, Montserrat and the British Virgin Islands. Many were homeless in In St. Barts and St. Martin.
"It's a tragedy. We will need to rebuild both islands," French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said. "Most of the schools have been destroyed."
The storm's 185-mph winds and storm surge blacked out Puerto Rico and it could take months before they power is restored for many.
