MIRAMAR, Fla. – A portion of Miramar Parkway was shut down early Tuesday morning because of a gas leak.
The roadway was closed from Monarch Lakes Boulevard to Flamingo Road, but reopened shortly after 6 a.m.
Local 10 News reporter Jenise Fernandez said the closure affected both eastbound and westbound lanes, but there were alternates for drivers.
During the closure, drivers heading east on Miramar Parkway were asked to turn left at Monarch Lakes Boulevard. The road curves and will take drivers to Flamingo Road, where they can make a right to get back onto Miramar Parkway.
Those heading west could turn on Flamingo Road to head toward Monarch Boulevard to then get back onto Miramar Parkway.
Fernandez said traffic lights were down in parts of Miramar and some trees were also blocking roads.
Drivers are reminded to treat non-working traffic lights and red blinking lights as a four-way stop.
Yellow blinking lights mean drivers can proceed with caution.
