Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for areas of South Florida

KENDALL, Fla. — A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect on Tuesday afternoon for areas of South Florida.

The thunderstorm moved over western Miami-Dade County with damaging winds of 60 mph and hail. The winds later lowered to about 30 mph.

The storm moved northeast from Kendall to impact Coral Gables, Sweetwater, Westchester, Doral, and Hialeah Gardens.

In Broward County, there was a special weather statement in effect for Pembroke Pines and Miramar.

In Palm Beach County, a special weather statement was also in effect for Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach, and North Palm Beach.

Rain and hazardous marine conditions were also in the area’s weather forecast for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
