After receiving more than 2 inches of rain in some spots overnight, drier air is moving in thanks to another surge of Saharan dust. With a return to sunny, hot and humid weather, a heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, approaches 110 degrees.

Stay hydrated and get into air conditioning as often as possible this weekend, as these steamy conditions are likely to continue through at least Sunday. There could be a few pop-up storms, mainly over the western suburbs, later Saturday, but most of the weekend looks rain-free.

There are no advisories for boaters, but there is a moderate risk of rip currents at the beaches, with southeast winds up to 15 mph expected.

All is quiet in the tropics through next week.
