Aug. 12: Heat advisory issued as triple-digit heat indices return

Welcome back to school, Broward County, the Archdiocese of Miami and, now, Monroe County kids. Lows on Wednesday morning are in the mid-80s, with heat indices already in the 90s. High temperatures will be in the low 90s, but heat indices will reach into the triple digits, sparking a heat advisory from noon until 7 p.m. Lighter winds will help keep storm chances slightly closer to inland Broward and Miami-Dade areas, mainly just west of the Turnpike. So, grab your rain gear later today — you may need it.
