Aug. 26: Scattered strong thunderstorms expected to fire up over South Florida today

High temperatures all week are expected to be in the low 90s. This is a little hotter than average, but below the level of heat advisories. Thunderstorms are the bigger story for South Florida this week. Potential drought relief is in the works with a substantial 50-60% chance of thunderstorms each day, especially in the afternoons. Some storms today could be strong with frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain.
