Flooding possible in parts of South Florida as heavy rain continues

National Weather Service issues flood watch, coastal flood advisory

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Flooding could be in the forecast for South Florida throughout the day as heavy rain soaks the region.

"All the ingredients are there for a wet, windy and, unfortunately, kind of miserable day for us here in South Florida," Local 10 News meteorologist Julie Durda said Thursday morning.

A flood watch is in effect for Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties through Thursday evening. The National Weather Service has also issued a coastal flood advisory for Broward and Miami-Dade counties until 2 p.m. Friday.

"All because of the higher-than-normal tides and all because of the rain that we are seeing already moving through parts of Broward and Miami-Dade," Durda said.

Durda said wind speeds were measuring from 12 to 18 mph with gusts ranging in the 20s and 30s mph.

"We're going to continue to be unsettled all day long," Durda said.
