MIAMI – Get your rain boots, rain coats and umbrellas out this Friday morning. Meteorologists warned of an 80 percent chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms in South Florida.
Meteorologist Betty Davis reminded drivers to exercise caution during the flood watch. It will remain in effect until Saturday morning in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
"There were more than two inches of rainfall in Fort Lauderdale and we are certainly going to be adding to that," Davis said during her latest forecast.
The thunderstorms and heavy rain is associated with slow moving low tropical pressure lingering close to South Florida.
The rain bands come to South Florida as Harvey intensified Thursday into a Category 1 hurricane and threatened to strengthen into a Category 3 life-threatening storm. Authorities ordered mandatory evacuations in seven Texas counties.
