2 injured in crash involving utility truck on Florida's Turnpike

Crash reported on southbound exit to US 1 in Florida City

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – Two people were taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after a crash involving a utility truck on Florida's Turnpike.

The crash was reported at the southbound exit ramp to U.S. Highway 1 in Florida City.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said two people were ejected from their vehicles.

A view from Sky 10 showed the badly damaged utility truck on the swale next to the highway. A power pole was on the ground.

The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known.

Utility trucks have been a common sight in South Florida as utility companies from throughout the country help to restore power to the region after Hurricane Irma.
