Davie pump station loses power during Hurricane Irma

Pump station expected to overflow, affecting residents in area

DAVIE, Fla. – A pump station in Davie lost power late Saturday and stopped working while the outer bands of Hurricane Irma impacted South Florida.

Broward County Emergency Operations Center officials said the wastewater pump station at 4701 SW 62nd Ave. lost power about 11:45 p.m.

The pump station is expected to overflow Sunday morning, impacting residents in the area of Emerald Isles and Jasmine Lakes.

Officials said free-standing water in the area may be contaminated.

Utilities staff in Davie are expected to make repairs to the pump station once it is safe to do so.
