District 9 Miami-Dade County residents can fill up sandbags at 7 locations

Sand available beginning noon Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. Thursday

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – There are seven locations in Miami-Dade County to fill up sandbags for District 9 residents who live in flood-prone zones, county officials said on Wednesday.

Sand will be available beginning at noon Wednesday and again at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. 

County officials said residents can bring their own sandbags and shovels, although some locations might have sandbags available. 

Residents are urged to call 311 or visit www.miamidade.gov/hurricane/ before they drive to any of the locations to make sure that sand is still available.

Below is a list of sandbag locations for District 9 residents: 

Goulds Park
11350 SW 216th St.

Country Star/ Cambridge Estates, Naranja
28350 SW 136th Place

Las Palmas
Krome Avenue and 200th St.

South Miami Heights/Oak Park (Roberta Hunter Park)
SW 117th Avenue and SW 208th Street

Chuck Pezoldt Park 
SW 168th Street and SW 157th Avenue

Serena Lakes Park
13965 SW 180th St.

Eureka Villas Park
14301 SW 180th Terrace

Adonel Concrete in Miami-Dade County is also offering four free bags of sand per household to anyone who stops by their business.

People are urged to bring their own bags to fill.
