Just days after Irma's arrival, postal workers are back on the streets delivering the mail on a limited basis in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Carriers were seen on the streets of South Florida as early as Tuesday as the USPS assesses areas where it is safe for their employees to travel.
"The safety of our customers and our employees is of the utmost importance to us," said USPS spokesperson Debra J. Fetterly.
Mail delivery and retail operations are still suspended in the Florida Keys until they have been cleared to reopen.
