Wilton Manors assisted living facility with no power evacuates residents

Williamsburg Landing operating on generator after Hurricane Irma

WILTON MANORS, Fla. ā€“ Residents at another assisted living facility are being evacuated due to the building having no power.

The Williamsburg Landing facility in Wliton Manors was operating solely on generator power four days after Hurricane Irma caused massive outages across South Florida.

Officials said the move was made as a precautionary measure.

"You just don't know when (Florida Power & Light) is going to be able to get out here," owner Ralph Marrinson told Local 10 News.

Buses could be seen loading residents outside the 100-bed center.

The evacuation comes a day after eight people died in a Hollywood nursing home that had lost air conditioning.

Williamsburg Landing is one of a few assisted living facilities still without power in Miami-Dade and Broward counties that have moved residents to better locations out of concerns for safety.
