According to one arrest report, officers responded to the area of Sunset Drive and 63rd Terrace around 4 a.m. Thursday in reference to a suspicious person going through mailboxes in the area while riding a scooter.

Miami-Dade police said a witness followed the scooter rider before losing sight of him near Southwest 48th Street.

According to the report, officers spotted the suspect, Miguel Hernandez-Sanchez, 30, of Miami, hiding on the side of bushes and removing black clothing and gloves.

Police said he then walked quickly through some nearby warehouses before he was approached by an officer.

According to authorities, Hernandez-Sanchez became “very nervous” and was shaking and “profusely sweating.”

He told the officer he was heading to his girlfriend’s house on Miller Drive, the report stated.

However, police said another officer had actually just detained the man’s girlfriend, Daphne Maria Roldan, 29, of Hialeah, on Sunset Drive and Southwest 87th Avenue – also in reference to mail theft.

According to police, Roldan confirmed that she lived in Hialeah and not on Miller Drive.

Multiple pieces of mail were found in the basket of Hernandez-Sanchez’s scooter basket and on the ground around it, his arrest report stated.

Police said he was also in possession of a knife.

Roldan, meanwhile, was in possession of four check books, a check, a credit card, a Social Security card and mail that didn’t belong to her, her arrest report stated.

A records check revealed that Hernandez-Sanchez had previously been convicted of a felony in reference to cocaine possession.

He was arrested on charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, loitering or prowling and carrying a concealed weapon.

Roldan was arrested on charges of fraudulent possession of personal identification, organized scheme to defraud, unlawful possession of five or more IDs and exploitation of the elderly/disabled of less than $10,000.
