WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Florida International University is celebrating a major accomplishment.

FIU reported on Tuesday that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching moved the Golden Panthers up on its classification of institutions of higher education.
FIU said Carnegie moved FIU into the top category-R1: Doctoral Universities - Highest Research Activity.
"We are focused on using state-of-the-art research and innovation as drivers to become a solutions center for our community and the world," said FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg.
