Florida native Charlotte McKinney graces cover of Ocean Drive

Model-turned-actress speaks about living in Miami, being bullied as girl

MIAMI – Florida native Charlotte McKinney will grace the cover of next month's Ocean Drive magazine.

The 23-year-old model-turned-actress was born and raised in Orlando before dropping out of high school and moving to Miami to pursue a modeling career.

"I was so young and I loved the feeling of being out at night in Miami," McKinney told the magazine. "I always hung out with the local vibe, not the touristy places. We would go out to cool bars like Radio, and I always ended up going to Wall on Tuesdays. I loved the atmosphere there. I felt at home, and it was just always a good time."

McKinney said her favorite night of the week was, surprisingly, Tuesday.

"I would work all week, but then Tuesday night was kind of a Miami, let-your-hair-down night," she said. "For dinner, I love going to Milos. That is one of my favorite restaurants."

McKinney rose to fame when she appeared in a Carl's Jr. commercial that aired during the 2015 Super Bowl.

"I was just eating burgers all day, so of course I had to spit some out or else I would have gotten really sick," she said. "We had a spit bucket because we used about nine burgers. They really started my career, and it was such a huge spot for me and got me to where I am."

The Super Bowl spot led to appearances in the "Joe Dirt" sequel and the recently released "Mad Families" opposite Charlie Sheen, who plays her brother in the movie.

"When I found out Charlie was going to play the character, I was kind of nervous, but then I met him, and working with him has been so much fun," McKinney said. "He's so healthy and so vibrant. He's such an awesome guy, and I had such a fun time shooting with him. I really learned a lot."

McKinney has a busy 2017 ahead of her. She'll appear in the upcoming summer movie version of "Baywatch," which was partially filmed in South Florida, and in the reboot of the 1990 film "Flatliners" this fall.

Despite the blonde's beauty, it wasn't all sunshine for the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant.

"I also left school because of all of the bullying," McKinney revealed. "Girls would yell at me and call me a slut. I would go to parties and get beer thrown on my head. There was so much bullying."

Florida native Charlotte McKinney, who dropped out of school in Orlando and moved to Miami to pursue a modeling career, graces the February 2017 cover of Ocean Drive.

McKinney said her experiences as a girl are what motivate her to promote anti-bullying.

"I try to use what I went through to be a voice for it, because it's still happening and getting even worse now with social media," she said.

McKinney adorns the February cover of Ocean Drive wearing a low-cut, oversized white shirt that reveals just enough to tantalize a man's eyes.

A behind-the-scenes video of McKinney's Ocean Drive photo shoot provides a glimpse of her attire inside the magazine's pages. McKinney said her favorite outfit was the knee-high boots in the black body suit.

"I felt super comfortable in it," she said in the video. "It was perfect."
