Pitbull to host American Music Awards

Gloria Estefan to be honored for her first appearance 25 years ago

LOS ANGELES – A big piece of South Florida will be represented at this year's American Music Awards.

"Mr. 305" himself Pitbull will host the show live from Los Angeles on Nov. 24 that will air only on Local 10.

The rapper, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, will perform his song "Timber" with Ke$ha.

Pitbull, a Cuban-American who hails from Hialeah, was chosen in part to help commemorate the 25th anniversary of Gloria Estefan's appearance on the show.  She was the first Hispanic artist to ever perform on the AMAs.  

Also scheduled to perform are Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Luke Bryan and Macklemore & Lewis, who are nominated for six awards, including artist of the year.
