KWCH reported on the Hutchinson, Kan. family that are relying on faith to carry them through this trying time.

Brittani and Ian McIntire had recently found out they were having twins when they learned their unborn son had a hole in his heart along with an abnormal brain.

Doctors told the couple that they considered the survival chances of the boy they named Mason to be slim.

But when the McIntire's saw the results from Brittani's recent sonogram, they were shocked at what it showed.

The photo shows Mason's hand holding on tight to the hand of his twin sister Madilyn.

"Most twins, when she's trying to take pictures and stuff, they're kicking each other and hitting each other and she said with our twins it seems like she was very protective over him," Brittani told KWCH.

While the McIntire's are preparing for the worst, they are trusting in their faith and comforted in the fact that Madilyn is there for her brother.

"I know I'm holding him, I'm carrying him but I just want to be there for him," Brittani said. "And she's the only one who can actually be there and holding onto him through it, so it's comforting to know that if he does pass he won't be alone."
