Jerod Mays charged in November robbery in Coconut Grove

MIAMI ā€“ A 19-year-old man admitted to robbing four people inside their home in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood, according to police.

Police arrested Jerod Mays on Tuesday and charged him with four counts of armed robbery, four counts of false imprisonment, and four counts of armed home invasion robbery.

While walking past the house in the 3800 block of Oak Avenue on Nov. 13, Mays and three others decided to rob two people they saw sitting outside, according to an arrest affidavit.

Mays and the others covered their faces with their shirts, then forced the two people into the house at gunpoint. He told police he demanded their gold and jewelry.

The arrest affidavit had no further details about the sexual battery that also occurred during the robbery.
