1 dead, 1 in critical condition following shooting in southwest Miami-Dade

Person in vehicle fired shots, drove off, police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are investigating after a shooting that left one teenager dead and another in critical condition.

It happened Sunday at 6:22 p.m. near 14121 SW 280th Street in southwest Miami-Dade. Police say shots were fired from inside of a car, striking the two 16-year-olds. 

Both were taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center, where one was pronounced dead and the other is listed in critical condition.

Family identified the victim as Rahkeem Brown. They say the 16-year-old played football at South Dade High School.

Police are looking into reports a dark colored vehicle was seen leaving the area. Investigators have not confirmed whether the car was involved in the shooting; they have also not released a detailed description of it.
