1 killed by Tri-Rail train in Fort Lauderdale

Bus bridge now set up between stations

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday morning by a Tri-Rail train near the Fort Lauderdale station.

South Florida Regional Transportation Authority spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold said the person was struck shortly before 7 a.m. by a northbound train just south of the station.

Arnold said there were 170 passengers on the train at the time, but nobody was injured.

Tri-Rail has set up a bus bridge between the Fort Lauderdale station and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport station.

Riders can expect heavy delays.
