10-year-old boy wounded in Miami shooting released from hospital

Jamari Tillman discharged from Holtz Children's Hospital

MIAMI – A 10-year-old boy who was shot while riding his bicycle in Miami has been released from a hospital.

Jamari Tillman was discharged from Holtz Children's Hospital on Sunday. Local 10 News was there as Tillman left the hospital in a wheelchair and was helped into his family's truck.

Jamari was shot Wednesday night when three armed men opened fire at the basketball courts at the Liberty Square Community Center, where he and his friends were riding their bikes.

Jamari was struck in the leg by a stray bullet.

"I'm, like, really excited," Jamari said as he was leaving the hospital.

Jamari said he planned to play games and have fun with his brothers.

Although he will now be recovering at home, Jamari must attend weekly therapy to make sure the wound heals properly.

"They say I got to exercise my feet," he said.

His mother and grandmother were glad to have him home.

No arrests have been made.
