13 passengers on Broward County Transit bus injured in crash

Driver of Monte Carlo taken to hospital with serious injuries

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – More than a dozen people were injured in a crash involving a Broward County Transit bus.

The crash occurred Tuesday morning at U.S. Highway 441 and Northwest 209th Street in Miami Gardens.

Passengers told Local 10 the bus was traveling north on U.S. 441 when a gray Monte Carlo cut it off.

"It was a big impact," passenger Monopoly Deglester said. "Everybody started flying all over the place."

After jumping the median, the bus came to a halt in the southbound lanes of traffic.

"Thank God there (were no vehicles) coming from the (other) direction because that would be a disaster," passenger Carol Jarrett said.

Thirteen people on the bus were treated at the scene for injuries.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Miami Gardens police said the driver of the Monte Carlo will be cited for reckless driving.
