FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 17-year-old girl escaped from officers with the Department of Juvenile Justice as they were taking her to a hospital Friday afternoon.
Police said the inmate was handcuffed when she ran away in the parking lot of Broward Health Medical Center.
An employee at a nearby gas station told Local 10 News that the girl was last seen running down Rose Drive, a block north of Davie Boulevard.
He said she was wearing a blue shirt and was handcuffed in front.
It wasn't known why she was being taken to the hospital.
