2 arrested in attempted robbery at Hollywood Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Police: Thief hit 'cash out' button on woman's machine, fled before cashing ticket

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ Two men were arrested Wednesday morning after police say they attempted to rob a woman at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and Hollywood and Seminole tribe police said they believe the men may be involved in similar robberies.

Janet White told Local 10 News that she woke up to flashing lights next door and watched as officers took down and cuffed two men at a home off Sherman Road and Northwest 64th Avenue in Hollywood.

"I looked out the window and saw police officers with their guns out," said White. "(They) got one guy and waited for the other to come out."

Seminole police said the incident began at the casino early Wednesday morning when a man tried to steal a woman's money.Ā  Police said the thief hit the "cash out" button on her machine, but took off before he could claim the ticket.

Surveillance video helped identify the man, and his license plate tag led police back to his home, where he was found with his alleged accomplice. Detectives searched his home for evidence and the possibility that he is connected to other crimes.

"It's real scary," said White. "We got Thanksgiving Eve to find cops out there with guns. It's scary."
