2 men accused of knocking out DEA agent at sports bar

Incident happened March 5 at Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 22-year-old man is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, after assisting his friend in hitting a DEA agent over the head with a concrete block, police said.

The incident happened March 5 at Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale.

Steven Jenrette was arrested Tuesday and appeared in court Wednesday morning, where a judge ordered he be held in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

According to authorities, two men who were cooks at the restaurant, began yelling at one of the two agents in the parking lot as they were trying to leave the restaurant.

An arrest report states the agents and an employee of the Sunrise Police Department were dining at the restaurant.

Police said the men pushed one of the agents for no reason.

According to an arrest report, Jenrette and Greg Bradley Jr., 29, who was arrested shortly after the incident, wouldn't let the agents get into their cars. Police said the trio identified themselves as law enforcement officers, even showing the suspects their badges.

The report states the manager tried to get the employees to calm down but was unsuccessful.

Authorities said Jenrette distracted the agents while Bradley picked up a football-sized concrete block and hit one of the agents in the head, knocking him unconscious.

Bradley allegedly said, "One down, two to go."

The agent hit on the head was taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed as having a severe concussion and several contusions to the face and head. One of the other officials who was also injured suffered a contusion in the back of the head but refused medical attention.

Neither Fort Lauderdale Police nor the DEA have commented further about the incident.
