2 men arrested in Coral Springs fatal shooting

Witness identifies Robert Morris as gunman outside bank

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. ā€“ Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another man outside a Coral Springs bank Monday.

Coral Springs police said Robert Morris, 23, shot Omar Khan, 22, as he was sitting in his car in the parking lot of a Bank of America near Coral Ridge Drive and Lakeview Drive.

Police said Morris was meeting Khan to settle a debt, but aren't sure about the specifics of the debt.

A witness to the shooting reported seeing a white Dodge Durango leave the scene.

Police said Khan, who was shot twice, drove about two miles to his home, where he collapsed outside. He was airlifted to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Durango shortly after the shooting and detained Roderick Dalton, 20, who was driving, and Morris, who was a passenger. Police said Morris had blood on his shirt.

The witness identified Morris as the man she saw standing next to Khan's car holding a gun.

Police reviewed surveillance video in the area of the shooting and saw the Durango briefly drive behind a children's day care center. Officers searched the area and found a pistol near a dumpster behind the day care.

Morris and Dalton both face murder charges. Dalton is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond, while Morris is being held without bond.
