2 rescued by Coast Guard after drifting at sea 8 days

MIAMI ā€“ Two Bahamian citizens were rescued Saturday from their capsized vessel east of Riviera Beach.

After Coast Guard Sector Miami received reports of the capsized vessel, they launched an MH-65 rescue helicopter from Air Station Miami.

When the helicopter arrived on the scene, a rescue swimmer was lowered to render aid.

The two people rescued stated they had been drifting for eight days and had ingest salt water.

The two were transferred to Delray Medical Center for treatment after the rescue swimmer determined the two need to be medically evaluated.

The Coast Guard urges all boaters to carry an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon or a Personal Locator Beacon.
