FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A Broward Circuit Court judge on Thursday set bail for two teenage girls charged in the beating and sexual assault of another girl.

Prosecutors say 16-year-old Erica Avery and 15-year-old Patricia Montes severely beat a 16-year-old girl, who was then held down and raped by a male friend.

Three boys -- 17-year-old Henry Dwight, 18-year-old Laniel Singleton, and 19-year-old Jayvon Woolfork -- are also charged in the incident, which was recorded on a cell phone.

Prosecutors showed Judge Lisa Porter the video Thursday, hoping to persuade her to hold the girls without bail until trial.

"I don't know what possesses young people to do things like this, but I've got to tell you that kids are capable of doing things like this are a danger," said prosecutor Maria Schneider.

"It's just unconscionable to believe that people can treat other people the way this victim was treated in this video, but videos don't lie and the video is there," said Porter.

Despite her outrage, Porter was legally required to grant bail, which was set at $100,000 for both girls. If they are released, the girls will be on house arrest and GPS monitoring.

The three boys who are charged are being held without bail.
