Two workers servicing an aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were hospitalized after they were jolted by a nearby lightning strike Thursday.

One worker was taken to Broward Health Medical Center and another worker showed up at the hospital a short time later with head pain.

Ralph Thompson left the hospital with his arm in a sling and with head pains. Thompson said he was inside a Delta plane cleaning it when the lightning bolt struck a nearby field, sending him to the ground.

"I (thought) I was dying," Thompson told Local 10. "I was so very, very afraid."

Both Thompson and the second worker are expected to be fine.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said there was no damage to the plane.

No other injuries were reported.
