TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

The Florida Lottery announced Thursday that Carrollwood Convenience Market received a $25,000 bonus check for selling the winning Powerball ticket from the May 25 drawing.

"This is the time of year when we have a majority of our business expenses due," said store owner, Nidia Tannous. "This couldn't have come at a better time."

Since Carrollwood Convenience Market became a Lottery retailer in Feb. 26, 2008, they have paid out more than $160,000 in prizes to customers and sold a total of more than $1.7 million in Lottery scratch-off tickets and terminal games. Due to those Lottery sales, more than $450,000 were transferred to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

“It is always a pleasure to present a bonus check to one of our retailers,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell. “This is a perfect example of a Florida Lottery winning moment for our players and retailers.”

Florida Lottery games have made more than 1,500 people millionaires.
