2nd suspect arrested in deputy-involved shooting

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A man was arrested Saturday in connection with an armed robbery that led to a deputy-involved shooting Thursday in Lauderhill.

After one of the alleged robbers, Steven Thompson, 26, was fatally gunned down after the robbery, deputies began searching through his criminal history for any known associates that may have matched the description of the second alleged robber.

Detectives showed a photo of Inisha Christopher, 24, to the victims, who identified him as the accomplice.

Deputies said two victims were robbed of their purses Thursday around 10 p.m. in North Lauderdale. After the two robbers fled, a K-9 deputy began canvassing the area of some apartments in Lauderhill, where he spotted a man matching one of the robber's descriptions. The man ran from the deputy through an apartment building, where he eventually fired a shot at the deputy.

The deputy fired back, striking Thompson multiple times. He was later pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center.

The deputy was not injured.

Christopher was arrested without incident and booked into the Broward Sheriff's Office main jail. He is facing two counts of robbery with a firearm.
