3 people killed when car submerges in golf course lake

Driver makes it out of car, calls 911, officials say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Three people are dead after a car crashed into a small body of water at a Lauderhill golf course Sunday night.

Police said the driver, DeShawn Prince, 24, somehow lost control of the car and crashed into a pond about 8 p.m. near the Inverrary Country Club at Northwest 44th Street and Inverray Boulevard.

Prince was able to get out of the car and call 911.

Three passengers, Shaquille Barrow, 22, Nathaniel Morgan, 25, and Barrow's brother Tyrese, 14, were trapped in the submerged car when rescuers arrived.

All three people were pulled from the car. Two were taken to Broward Health Medical Center and Prince and one passenger were taken to Florida Medical Center.

Authorities said Barrow and Morgan died on the way to the hospital. Tyrese was listed in critical condition after the crash, but died on Monday.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known, but Lauderhill police Lt. Greg Solowsky said investigators were speaking to Prince.

"We have a moral and legal obligation to make sure that the family members that did lose somebody in this traffic incident (Sunday) night do have some closure," Solowsky said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
