40 units destroyed in Public Storage facility fire

Renters try to gather what's left of personal belongings

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Those who kept their personal belongings at a Public Storage facility in Miami Gardens tried to salvage what was left one day after a fire destroyed dozens of units Monday.

"Literally, I have nothing," Jessica Wooden told Local 10. "I have absolutely nothing."

Wooden said it's not about the money.

"It's stuff that you can't replace," she said.

Miami-Dade firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire at 3505 NW 167th St.

There were no injuries, but investigators said the massive fire destroyed 40 units.

Wooden said she believes the fire was caused by someone living in one of the units. She said a worker told her that a man had a refrigerator inside that caught fire.

"Now my stuff is gone," Wooden said.

Management at Public Storage had no comment.
