6 hurt in car crash outside CVS pharmacy; 4 in critical condition

Good Samaritans move car off man

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ Six people were injured, four of them in critical condition, when a car crashed into a bus bench outside a CVS pharmacy in Miami Gardens.

According to Miami Gardens Police, one of the victims has died.

The crash happened at Northwest 199th Street and 2nd Avenue about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police believe the white Nissan Maxima was speeding and swerved around a slower moving black Nissan Altima, struck it, and then plowed through a bus stop where four people were waiting. Both cars were going eastbound on 199th Street.

Several Good Samaritans heard the crash and ran in to help. Several people freed a man who was trapped underneath the car, leaving it on its side.

"Once somebody yelled that there was a body under the car and we heard the voice of the guy that was under there, we all ran over there and we started. Everybody went kind of on three and we lifted the car up, and then we pushed it up and everybody grabbed him and pulled him from underneath the car," said Conrad Hines.

"It looked like a warzone almost because it was just bodies lying around and we couldn't really do anything in the beginning because we had to just wait for actual help to come," said Austin Hines.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said at least six people, including a mother and her infant, were transported. Four of the victims were listed in critical condition; one was in serious condition; and, the sixth person, the child in the Altima, had minor injuries, authorities said. Miami Gardens police said one of the victims was revived.

The mother and the infant who were in the black Nissan are expected to be okay.

Police were interviewing the driver of the white car who walked away from the crash without any injuries. No charges have been filed yet.
