Kevin Ramirez in critical condition at Baptist Hospital

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 9-year-old boy was taken to a hospital Thursday after being pulled from a pool in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

The incident was reported about 11:30 a.m. at the boy's grandparent's home at 8771 SW 53rd St.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called to the home and took the child to the hospital. Authorities said the boy, identified as Kevin Ramirez, had a pulse while he was being taken to Baptist Hospital.

Neighbors told Local 10 News reporter Glenna Milberg that Ramirez and his younger sister get dropped off during the day at their grandmother's home while their parents are at work.

"They're very nice people, and it really hurts me. I just hope everything is OK," Maria Ruiz said.

Ramirez is listed in critical condition.

Details leading up to the incident were not immediately released, but police said they are speaking with the homeowners.
