Conn. newspaper apologizes for gun show ad placement

Ad ran next to article on resumption of classes at Sandy Hook Elementary

MIAMI ā€“ A Connecticut newspaper apologized Thursday for placing a gun show ad next to a news story about students at Sandy Hook Elementary School returning to class for the first time since the December shootings that left 20 children and six adults dead.

The photo in Thursday's Stamford (Conn.) Advocate promotes the "East Coast Fine Arms Show" and displays pictures of various guns that will presumably be up for sale.

An executive for the paper apologized for the ad placement saying it was "insensitive, and it should not have happened."
