Local Mom, Young Son Treated To Mother's Day Shopping Spree

The Local Ten Care Force teamed up with JC Penney to honor a South Florida mom for Mother's Day.

Grace Loeb is a single mom who watches out for her 10-year-old son Manny.

Manny was born with a rare disorder that causes asphyxiating scoliosis. He's undergone 17 surgeries in his spine, and Loeb has been by his side the whole time.

Loeb underwent surgery herself in March to have skin grafts removed for her son.

"I gave him the part of the skin that he needed and it went wonderfully,? said Loeb. ?He's fine, I'm fine. He's happy and I am doing better."

"Would you agree that she's a good mom?? Care Force reporter Mayte Padron asked Manny.

?Yeah," he replied.

For that very reason, JC Penney in Aventura had a few surprises in store. There was a $100 gift card for salon services.

"But we also have on top of that, $500 for you to pick wardrobe,? said Padron to Loeb, who was overwhelmed with joy.

Manny also received a $100 gift card.

This year, it was their turn to stock up on new clothes, shoes and accessories.

"Honestly, I do not remember the last time that I went shopping for myself, because everything is to cover bills and anything that has to do with my responsibilities," said Loeb.

Loeb said she got all she wanted and still had about $90 left over on her gift card, which worked out in Manny?s favor.

Manny came in over budget and Loeb bailed him out.

She said that's what moms are for, to love and give unconditionally, because what they get back in return can't be measured in dollars and cents.

"She raised the money to pay for my surgeries, and she deserved every single thing that she got," said Manny.

"Everyone who has a child would do no less than what I have done for mine,? said Loeb. ?Happy Mother's Day to every mother in the world."
