Man killed in Southwest Miami-Dade shooting

Police, emergency crews called to scene at SW 113th Avenue & 216 Street

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A man died early Sunday morning, after an apparent shooting in the Goulds area of Southwest Miami-Dade, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of SW 113th Avenue and 216 Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, they found a man in his mid-20s suffering from what appeared to be a gun shot wound.

Emergency rescue crews were called and pronounced him dead at the scene. His body was taken away by a medical examiner around 7 a.m.

Local 10's Tamika Bickham spoke with a woman who says the victim was her nephew. She believes the shooting stemmed from some sort of fight that began on Saturday.

"They rolled up quietly, did what they did and left," she said. "They left in a car."

Another woman said she was the sister of the victim. She said her brother was in school and has a one-year old son.

Police have not released any details about potential suspects.
