Police are investigating a suspicious fire that started shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday near a Miami muffler repair shop.

When firefighters arrived at 625 NE 79th Street, the area adjacent to Magic Mufflers was fully engulfed in flames, officials said. Scooters from a neighboring business had caught fire as well, according to Assistant Fire Chief Joe Zahralban.

Arson investigators are looking into reports, which state that witnesses spotted a person throwing an incendiary device near the muffler shop before the fire started.

Northeast 79th Street, just east of U.S. 1, remained closed as of late Thursday.

No one was injured.
