Search underway after shots fired in Hialeah

Police say they pulled over suspected stolen minivan, shots fired

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police say they pulled over a suspected stolen minivan Friday evening in Hialeah. Moments later, at least two gunshots rang out.

Police haven't said whether their officers or the suspects inside the minivan fired the gunshots.

Afterwards, the van fled and then crashed into a random car a few blocks from the scene, said police. The suspects in the minivan ran off on foot.

"Right now, we do have a very large perimeter established," said Eddie Rodriguez with the Hialeah Police Department. "We're actively searching for subjects within that perimeter."

Rodriguez said they did find one firearm inside of a vehicle.

"We are considering them (the suspects) armed and dangerous," said Rodriguez.

Officials said the driver of the random car was not injured.
