A South Florida teenager who was shot while riding his bicycle last week fears he will never walk again.
15-year-old Aaron Willis remains at Jackson Memorial Hospital with a severed spine and bruised lung. He was shot near Northwest 1st Avenue and 28th street. Police say the incident may have been a case of mistaken identity.
Willis' father says he has not left his son's bed side since the shooting.
"I can feel his pain for him. You don't even know the pain I feel for him," said Sam Willis.
Aaron is having difficulty coming to grips with the reality that he will probably have to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
He doesn't know who would want to hurt him, and he credits his friends for calling 911 minutes after the shooting.
"Two of my friends came running. One of them called police and the other tried to get the bike of my legs. There were people around me but I couldn't really see people my eyes were rolling back," said Aaron.
Police have few leads in the case. Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
