20-year-old was shot and killed

MIAMI – The woman who police say was involved in trying to steal a personal watercraft, which led to the shooting death of her boyfriend, agreed to a plea deal.

Carolina Lopez entered a plea of no contest on Thursday in a Miami courtroom.

Lopez was sentenced to one-year of probation. She also must cooperate with prosecutors.

Police say Lopez was driving the stolen personal watercraft that took her boyfriend, Reynaldo Munoz, 20, to a home in Miami Shores last May.

Detectives say their plan was to steal another watercraft from behind the home, but the homeowner's 14-year old son shot and killed Munoz during the theft.

Munoz's parents have since sued the Miami Shores family, and the State Attorney's Office is still investigating.
